The Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) – the state’s occupational

On July 31, the state Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) – the state’s occupational credentialing agency – announced that they intend to start issuing Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) credentials in September. Each such credential will indicate a recognized role for which the nurse has been certified. The roles are: Nurse Practitioner (NP), Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM), Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).
